Steven J. Kovacik, M.A.
Steven J. Kovacik III has over fifteen years of law enforcement
experience and is the director of research and planning for a medium
size police agency in northwest Indiana.
Steven law enforcement experience is in supervision, investigation
and planning. He was assigned to a criminal investigations
unit where he investigated mostly white collar and computer related
crimes. Afterward he spent several years as a supervisor
before accepting his current assignment as manager of research
and planning. Steven is responsible for a wide range of law
enforcement planning activities such as personnel and resource
allocation, disaster preparedness, special events planning, dignitary
protection, public / media relations and emergency response procedures. He
has appeared on radio interviews, television interviews and newspaper
columns relating to law enforcement management, police practices
and disaster management.
Steven is an adjunct instructor at Calumet College of St. Joseph
(Whiting, Indiana) and at Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois). He
is also a certified law enforcement instructor in the State of
Indiana. He consults with both government agencies and private
sectors companies in areas such as employee protection, facility
security and asset protection.
Steven’s formal education includes a B.S. Degree in Electrical
Engineering Technology from Purdue University and a M.S. Degree in
Law Enforcement Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph. He
is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff
and Command, Indianapolis Police Department Basic Detective School,
Reid School of Interview and Interrogation and the Drug Enforcement
Administration Drug Investigation School.
